Mr. Rakowski began his legal career in 1990 after earning his law degree from John Marshall Law School and being admitted to the Illinois State Bar. In addition to his ability to practice law in all Illinois state courts, he has admittance to practice in the courtrooms of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Over the course of his 30-plus-year legal career, Steve has built a reputation as not only a skilled trial attorney but also a talented negotiator. In fact, many of Steve's clients seek his assistance in using alternative dispute resolution methods, including meditation and collaborative law, to maximize client control over the outcome of their case.

When Steve is not assisting a client, he is often found at legal events. As an author and lecturer, he is a valued member of numerous organizations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, the Decalogue Society, the Cook County Bar Association, and the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois.

Steve is a member of the Family Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. In that capacity he reviews and provides critical analysis on legislation impacting the practice of family law. Steve leverages his cutting-edge knowledge of divorce law to provide superior problem-solving skills in serving his clients.
